Fighting for my daughters' future: A Mother's Rebellion
In her powerful new film, Martha McAlpine charts the journey of an ordinary health worker and mother to civil resistance, taking the immense personal risks of “slow-walking” with Just Stop Oil.
Tina, who works in healthcare, didn’t want to believe her daughter when one day she came home from university talking about the stark reality of the climate crisis. “I couldn’t believe it was really that bad because everyone would be talking about it,” she said.
Her daughter had become increasingly interested in climate science while studying Physics, and at the same time was shocked at the lack of action from the academic scientific community.
A Mother’s Rebellion documents Tina’s journey into civil resistance - from ignorance, to marching alongside her daughter and finally getting arrested.
My work celebrates the women who are refusing to continue with "business as usual". I want to amplify their voices for our children and for all future generations.
