Ladywell Playtower: step on-site (just for one day)
Mark Morris attended Ladywell Old Baths community open day on 4th October and found some unexpected sights.
The Ladywell Play Tower Action Group organised the open day, inviting the public to explore the space and give their views on what the priorities should be for the site.
Local artist Michael Spencer ran an art class for visitors, who made their own sketches of the building.

There are remnants of an abandoned playground around the side and back of the building.
The brickwork at child height on both sides of the arches shows tiny indents. These were made over many years by impatient children, making holes with their penny coins as they queued to buy tickets to go into the swimming baths.
