Our Co-op
Salamander News is a co-op, democratically controlled by our members.
We are London's only news co-op, and following in footsteps of other media co-ops around the UK including The Bristol Cable, The Leicester Gazette and Scotland's Ferret.
Our members help decide our focus and strategy, and make sure that we cover the issues that matter to local communities.
All members are invited to our first (hybrid) co-op general meeting on 7th December 2025, which will include discussion on how we can grow, while keeping our values.
We want to hear your views on whether we should start a community newsroom, extending our use of social media (can we use it ethically?) and opening the site to reader comments.
Co-op members then will be invited to our first AGM in February 2026, date tbc.
They will be able to stand for election as directors, vote for directors and help choose our topics and shape our strategy.
Reader membership starts from just £2 per month. Please join us, become a co-owner of the co-op and help shape our future.

Your support will help us cover more independent local news and keep Salamander News free for everyone to read.
